Each year, fire crews visit neighbourhoods in Newmarket and Aurora to create awareness around home escape planning and to remind them it is the law to have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms (CO) in homes. 

An intervention program to reduce fire involvement (intentional firesetting and/or match/lighter play) and to promote fire safety among children aged 2-17 years.

Each year, fire departments across York Region launch a fire safety poster contest for grade 3 classes at their chosen schools. Six winners are chosen to be a “crew” for a day alongside each of their Fire Departments. 

CYFS' Fire Prevention division provides inspections upon complaint or request to ensure safety of a property and that it is up to Fire Code. 

Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is a national event to encourage everyone to take action so that you, your family, and your community are prepared for emergencies.

An annual campaign aimed at educating the public on having working smoke alarms in homes. 

​​​Book a station tour visit that will introduce the station, apparatus and the role of the firefighter to the community, in addition to providing lessons on fire and life safety skills.
